I Achieved My Impossible, Improbable (Affirmation) Goal…Sort of

In less than 100 days, I hit my 10 year goal.

About 100 days ago, I started a very specific affirmation.

I published articles and emails about my affirmation and some of the ways in which I thought I could achieve it.

But when it came true, in such a short period of time, I feel like it’s a fluke.

Here’s why…

What happened wasn’t what I expected, and the results are both much greater and not the same all at once.

It was a windfall, not a recurring revenue stream.

Before the big reveal, I want to discuss a handful of other affirmations or visualizations that happened for me over the past few years to help you decide for yourself.

(Or confuse you, like they do for me).

1.

About two years ago, I decided I wanted to stop having multiple clients and focus on a singular client — or, a job.

The number in my head, the salary I had heard reduced most anxiety: $70,000 per year.

I’m in rural North Carolina, so this is more than enough.

Within a few weeks (I think), I got a full-time copywriter job offer for $72,000 per year, with a 6-week trial period.

It came out to about $70,000 on the dot.

2.

Around that same time period, I created this vision board.

And there were several things on it, but one process-goal (rather than results-goal) was just to write a horror movie with my new writing partner.

We achieved this goal in a few months.

But here’s the funny thing. The vision board sample I used was from a movie I loved at the time called The Witch from Robert Eggers.

Seemingly out of nowhere, I was asked to interview Robert Eggers for his new film The Northman not long after we finished our screenplay.

Weird, maybe, awesome, definitely.

3.

Something else on that vision board was a rental property — specifically a beach house.

Again, this was something I put a lot of time and money into finding.

I was working with an investor named Pace Morby at the time, doing his email marketing and advoc copywriting work.

While I learned a lot, his specific methods didn’t work for me even though I saw them work for hundreds of other people.

But in the end, my wife and I committed to this goal and we went in with a family member and purchased a beach house as our first VRBO.

(Pace’s methods helped me later in the story.)

4.

Back to present day…

This was the first time I hit a specific goal from doing the specific 15-times-per-day repetition model.

“I, Brock Swinson, will earn $21,000 per month selling books, courses, and films by September 15, 2023.”

I received a version of this goal, seemingly out of nowhere.

Nothing I thought would work has worked (yet), not exactly anyway, even though a handful are closer than I ever imagined.

But my bank account reflects a version of this goal that’s basically two years of my former salary paid upfront.

Here’s what happened though.

I inherited a house that I thought we would lose (because I’ve seen this happen time and time again).

There were a lot of complications and we’re still wrapped up in part of this deal, but it’s hard to say the manifestation didn’t come true, again.

(I also viewed people who inherited anything as “cheaters” or “lucky,” so I think that’s an issue for me, but now, I can’t help but think…three people had to die for me to be in this position, including my mother.)

Here’s what I wrote about this idea a few months ago:

So, why is this the case? Is it magic? Are you altering reality? Is it nonsense? Is it selective memory? Is it proof of inner confidence? Is it programming to filter reality?

For me, personally, I think it’s a combination of all of these aspects. Call it manifestation. Call if an affirmation. Call it what you will, but you’re taking action and having faith the results you crave will follow.

I still can’t decide, but as many former critics say, maybe I don’t need to dissect the bird to appreciate the song.

That said, I do know one thing for certain.

I’m already starting my next affirmation, a 90-day process-related goal, and I believe I have a grasp on the following one as well, something I want to focus a full-year on.

Something that will benefit all of my readers tremendously.

Stick with this continuum as I display my attempts, try to explain magic, and breakdown a path for you to follow as best I can.

Have you ever had an affirmation or vision or “coincidence” come true? Comment on this article.
