How it feels to hit 10 percent of your impossible, improbable goals…
Ten percent is not really ten percent, when you’re focused.
As a writer, I’m obsessed with words, but generally speaking, care less about numbers.
I was pretty good at math — straight A’s — until maybe Algebra II, and then, I suddenly couldn’t care less about it.
Words, on the other hand, matter a great deal to me (I remember reading Cormac McCarthy books in the book of Algebra II…I got a C+).
But sometimes, you need numbers to make your words more effective.
Data proves you are on the right track.
Metrics identify progress.
You need both to run a business. And, if you plan to make money for your words, you’re running a business whether you like or not.
Because I can see the big picture and implement the steps to make it happen, other people have told me this is my superpower.
Currently, across the board, I’m about 10 percent finished on my projects when you average everything together (some have been in my mind for a while, but it’s only been about 60 or 90 days of dedicated work here).
A lot of businesses run with a partnership in place, one Visionary Leader and one Integrator, who makes that vision comes to life.
That’s all well and good, but not everyone has that kind of partnership or doesn’t know how to find that collaborator, at least not in the beginning.
So you need to figure a lot of these things out yourself, create your own accountability, and take actionable steps towards that accountability (then you can shift from “how” to “who”).
When you do this, and you know you can count on yourself, you can start to create a system of self-reliance to get your work done.
I once heard Seth Godin say he never breaks a promise to himself and I thought, “I wish I had that accountability.” This is actually an insane thing to think, because, anyone you can have it. You just have to decide to do so.
And then, you start to realize that the first 10 percent is actually harder than the next 90 percent. Now, it’s just consistent momentum.
If you’re at a point where you’re ready to finish your most ambitious projects, capture full creative control of your work, and get paid to do what you love, I can help. Here’s how.
A handful of dedicated writers have joined the cause already. I hope to see you there. Let’s build a community where achieving impossible, improbable goals is the norm.
